Update On My Embroidery

Folks still comment on this blog and ask if it's still active. Others contact me through email or other avenues. I have been very silent online. I owe an explanation to all of you who encouraged and inspired me.

I can not embroider anymore. Due to Lupus I've lost feeling in my fingertips - enough that I can no longer feel the fine threads I worked with. It became obvious over the Spring/Summer of 2013 when I was working on the pieces for Nicola Jarvis and Inspirations magazine. The quality of my embroidery declined. The process became difficult; then tiresome. During the same period I lost someone dear to me. The embroidery became a minor issue.

I love creating beauty and I will miss embroidery. But, Spring is around the corner and it's time to move forward. An idea occurred to me recently. I've been tossing it around in my head; a way to use embroidery designs in a different medium.

Thank you all for following my embroidery, for your conversations, and your passion. The online embroidery community is a very giving and thoughtful one. I have thoroughly enjoyed the time I've spent with you.

Happy Stitching,
Kimberly

    1. Hi Kimberly. I recently found your blog looking for wool appliqué ideas. I was saddened by your lupus diagnosis and effects. How are you doing today? I too have a chronic disease:Parkinson's. A book by Leeza Gibbos about optimism has been helpful of late.

  4. Kimberly, because of you I have delved into the wonderful world of gold work and Elizabethan style embroidery. You have inspired me and continue to do so. I often visit your blog just to look at all your pretty pictures thinking as I look " I wish I could do that." I'm sorry for your personal loss with the death of a loved one and the loss of feeling in your fingers. If you continue to write and share what you know about embroidery, I will continue to read and be inspired. Please don't be silent....

  6. Kimberly,

I am sorry to hear of your sad loss of a loved one. It takes much time for the heart breaking grief to soften but I assure you it will.

I have a dear friend living with Lupis. I am saddened to hear you can't continue with your embroidery as you did previously. I send you my best wishes for your new creative endaevours.

I too am a person who was inspired by your very beautiful creations to start to buy books, take classes and practice Elizabethan stitching. I love that peroid of stitching history.

Most importantly, take good care of yourself Kimberly.

    With love and hugs,
    Dianne

  8. Sometimes life seems to throw so much at us we just want to throw our hands up & walk away. But where are we going to go. Your creative mind will get you through this because creative minds don't just function when we make stuff. Our minds find ways to accomplish all things. I know that you will find a new way to be & a new way to work your creativity. Meanwhile be kind to yourself & ask others to be kind to you to. My prayers are with you.

  13. And this is what I learned from that practice. New techniques, the discipline of carrying a sketchbook and paying attention to the world around me. Also that it was the time of me to leave my job as nothing other than the travel templates ever made it into the artwork, that I really wanted to learn more about surface design, and that I could bury my other problems in the creative challenge. cartoon embroidery designs free

  14. I recently have some difficult conversations and I did what a lot of people do when they want to know how to do something. I googled it. I came across Dr Williams herbal medicine on blog-site so many people thanking him about his good work. I also have fibromyalgia. I wasn’t running all over God’s creation with every man I could find but here I am. I have felt bad about myself for so many years now because of my fibromyalgia status. I obviously still have some self-accepting to do but I want to thank Dr Williams for everything he have done for my family ,after taking Dr Williams medicine i was completely free from fibromyalgia within one month of usage, I think what you are doing is so admirable. you have helped me a lot! I want to definitely reach out to you and thank you for your amazing work. You are a good person, and an extremely talented man. You have helped millions with your herbs, and have really inspired me,and i pray you still continue doing the good work.you can also email him on drwilliams098675@gmail.com for help

  29. Well-done embroidery adds a touch of style and quality to your branding exercise. When the embroidery is stitched into the cloth, it is more permanent than painted material, which can become indistinct over many washes.website

  32. I had just finished the project of a beautiful embroidery. I was so proud of myself. I felt like I was a little more productive than usual and I had a bit of a spring in my step. I was about to walk out the door to show off my work when I noticed the little white thread that had been left behind in the fabric. It's just an oversight, I thought to myself, as I began to pull out the thread. Suddenly, the thread unraveled and I was left with a long, white thread trailing from my fingertips.
